Have a Relaxing Move"Check!

By The Edmonton Storage Guy

Following the simple steps outlined below will help alleviate some of the stress of moving day and allow you to feel comfortable that you havent forgotten anything, while ensuring that your moving day is as stress-free as possible.

Utilities: Inform local utility companies of your moving date and provide them with your new address. Take a final reading from all of your meters, so you can ensure that your final bills are correct. By this point you should already have contacted the utility companies in your new location and arranged to have everything turned on in your name on the day you arrive.

Services: Have you notified your bank, mobile phone and Internet service providers of your new address? Do you regularly contract a gardener, maid service or other third-party service that you need to cancel? Have you arranged to have your mail forwarded?

Security Deposits: Have you fulfilled all the requirements for the return of your security deposit? Have you paid the security deposit (if any) for your new house? Have you clearly explained and documented any repairs required in your old house?

Documents: Have you transferred important documents such as your driver's license, visa, passport or work permit to your new address? Your homes new occupants will also appreciate it if you leave out any manuals for appliances or other items you're leaving behind.

Final Walkthrough: Make sure that everything thats going with you is properly packed and labeled, and that any broken or used-up items have been disposed of.

Once you're sure you've taken care of everything on your list, you can move on to your new house knowing that you're starting your new life without fear of disruption, identity theft, or the need to contact the new occupants of the house with any problems. You'll also be able to relax and enjoy the move itself. - 16492
