7 Fashion Tips to Jazz Up Your Old Outfit

By Tessa W. Adachi

We all know how it is - your old outfits are getting a little dull and you're starting to think it's about time to go shopping to update your wardrobe. Before you do, try these seven tips - you can actually give your old wardrobe an entirely new look with these seven easy tips; best of all, you can do this with little or no money.

1. While fitted waists may be the thing at the moment, a lot of women steer clear of them since they fear that these garments will make them look bigger. It's actually quite the opposite - fitted waists flatter your figure; it is loose garments which can make you look heavier. Try taking a scarf, a belt or even a necklace and making a belt for some of those loose fitting garments - looks better, doesn't it?

2. Use a scarf to accentuate the neck of your outfit and draw attention to your beautiful face and smile. The scarf should be a splash of colour that will complement your outfit, but will also update the look. If you have a gray dress or sweater, try a yellow, green, or blue scarf for a little punch of colourful style. You can knot the scarf or secure it with a pretty pin to make it sizzle even more.

3. Those old beaded costume necklaces every woman has lying around are great for adding a little pep to your sweaters and blouses. Try mixing and matching these necklaces to create unique combinations. You can even hot glue beads to clothing to make patterns which are all your own. These old costume jewellery pieces can take a boring old blouse and really bring it to life.

4. Experiment with new looks by mixing and matching various textures and fabrics. You can try silks with tweeds and leather to create stylish combinations which can fit any look. Remember, many of the old fashion rules no longer apply - go ahead an experiment!

5. One of the easiest and least expensive ways to totally transform the look of old clothing is to dye it in different colours.

6. Dress up your collars, waistbands and pockets with eye catching accents like fake fur, feathers and leather. These can add a lot of zest to clothes you already own. Don't forget hats either - these accents can change the look of an outfit.

7. Have a look through your closets and pull out the clothes which fit you best. These will be the basis of your new look for the season. If these clothes are solid dark colours, then look for brightly coloured accents and accessories to enliven them with. While monotones can look great sometimes, there are almost always better with a colourful accent like a bright scarf or sparkly pin.

Of course, styles and fashions are in constant flux - keep an eye on fashion magazines to see what looks have come back into style.

It is worth the effort and time it takes to use tips like these to make your own ordinary outfit into a stunning fashion original. This allows you to keep on budget instead of going broke and lets you express your own fashion sense and design style. - 16492
