Rise of Concrete Polishing

By Rick Amorey

Polished Concrete Floors are on the rise. What was once the province of tiled or carpeted floors is slowly being dominated by what usually lay underneath them. And why not? With all the benefits polished concrete floors have over their competition, and what with concrete being the foundation for most homes, it is frankly the best choice available.

Polished Concrete is the new player in the scene, and up to now, most of us imagine the unremarkable sidewalk or the hot parking lot whenever we encounter the word "concrete". It is seldom thought of as the most exquisite part of your home, but Concrete Polishing manages to do just that.

So what exactly is concrete polishing? Well, it's just that. Concrete is polished using the latest innovations, and it is worked into a magnificent finish. It will certainly be an eye-cather with its sleek, glamorous look! If you have a concrete foundation for your home (and you probably do), you can have it polished up with just a little patchwork and possibly an additional layer of concrete. Ask a contractor; anyone with experience can help you out.

So what are the benefits of a polished concrete floor? The first one would be the price, which is comparable to cheap ceramic tiles. Unlike ceramic tiles, polished concrete is as tough as you'd expect concrete to be. There's a reason why they are used in construction everywhere, and that is because they are durable.

Still not convinced? Well, how about this: Busy people like me will be delighted to hear that polished, concrete floors require very little upkeep. You need only sweep and mop once in a while, and it will maintain its polish for a long time. You don't even need to wax it; something that I'm particularly happy about. - 16492
