My Quick And Dirty Bookmarking Demon 4.1 Review

By Mike Wong

After more than a year in development, Bookmarking Demon 4.1 has finally been released. The creator of Bookmarking Demon, Edwin Brian has given the software a complete overhaul and released essentially a brand new social bookmarking tool. Bookmarking Demon has a nice new user interface and some essential features which make bookmarking sites easy and painless.

For those of you who haven't used Bookmarking Demon before, it is a Windows only software that automates the process of creating accounts and submitting pages to social bookmarking sites. It supports most of the major bookmarking sites, like Mister-wong.com, Delicious.com, and Spurl.net. Not only that, but it can also save your pages to the smaller, but more numerous Pligg, Scuttle, and Scuttle Plus sites.

There are quite a few benefits from using a tool like Bookmarking Demon:

Highly targeted backlinks - Each keyword you submit to a social bookmarking site creates its own page. So multiply the number of keywords, by the number of sites you submit to and that's how many backlinks you'll be getting.

Quickly index your sites - By using the new pinging feature of Bookmarking Demon 4, it tells the web spiders to check out your recently bookmarked sites and consequently gets your sites and pages indexed faster.

Higher search engine rankings - The majority of the social bookmarking sites that Bookmarking Demon currently supports have dofollow links. These sites are have a PageRank ranging from 4 to 8 and the more of these high quality, one-way backlinks you have, the higher your site will rank in the search engine listings for your terms.

The first thing you'll notice in Bookmarking Demon 4.1, is that it features a brand new interface. Gone is the bland UI, and in its place is a more colorful and more friendly looking interface. The program is also more functional as everything can be done on the pages themselves which makes the whole bookmarking workflow more streamlined.

To reduce the chances of getting dinged for duplicate content, Bookmarking Demon 4 introduces a new syntax for bookmarking titles and descriptions. Now you can include text like: Macbooks are great laptops and Bookmarking Demon will randomly choose one of those 3 words to include when bookmarking to a particular site.

My favorite feature so far are the rss feeds. In the preferences, you can now add rss feeds from your favorite sites (like engadget or reddit) and Bookmarking Demon 4 will automatically submit items from your feeds along with your site. This lets you "hide" the site you are promoting and lessens the chances of you getting flagged by the bookmarking site for being a self promoter.

This feature is still a little buggy in my experience, but the new ping feature is a nice addition to Bookmarking Demon 4.1. After you've finished submitting your sites, you can have Bookmarking Demon ping your social bookmarking site profile, along with the page that you bookmarked. This lets the search engines know to check out the site to see what's been updated. Doing this allows your sites to get indexed in the results very quickly.

There's a lot to like about this new Bookmarking Demon 4.1 release. It is easier to use, and includes a lot more functionality than the previous version. If you have a lot of websites you're trying to promote, you'll definitely want to give Bookmarking Demon a try. It will help you get your sites indexed quickly, and give you tons of high quality backlinks. Instead of performing the time consuming process of submitting all your sites by hand, let Bookmarking Demon do it for you. You'll save yourself a ton of time. - 16492
