Taking the full four or five years to complete a college degree and enjoying all the activities of being a fulltime student can be a wonderful experience. Not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to do that however as they need to finish college fast and start making some money.
Someone in the military for example who does not have the luxury to be on a campus due to the fact that they are out at sea or overseas for an extended period of time. Another example would be someone who works fulltime and is not able to stop working in order to finish a degree program.
If one of the above is your situation or something else that stops you from going to college full time do not worry, you have other options. While it is true you may miss some or all of the campus based college experience, you will still be able to complete a degree program.
Having some freedom or flexibility to earn a college degree via a distance based or online degree program is an option to consider.
But there is something else you may not have though about. There are tests you can take that may allow you to bypass taking some college courses thereby saving you even more time and money.
The CLEP or College Level Examination Program is one of these tests. Some colleges allow you to earn up to 12 credit hours from a CLEP exam. Some colleges also use these as a part of admissions. Remember however to check with the college you want to earn your degree from to make sure they accept CLEP exams as each college has different policies.
There are several different CLEP exams such as English Composition, Analyzing and Interpreting Literature, Western Civilization I & II, Human Growth and Development, and more.
Now you should be able to see that you may be able to earn a degree faster by using the CLEP exams to reduce the number of college courses you will need to take. You may also save time by using either an online college or distance learning program (assuming they accept CLEP).
