The Difference of being Certified or Qualified.

By Kal Gutman

Carpets are not receiving the proper attention that they deserve and carpet maintenance should not be taken lightly.

What is the best way to look after them? Professional carpet cleaning systems and other cleaning professionals may have the answer or not!

Different cleaners give different results and so it is important to know who can do the job right.

Most consumers are not well versed in the carpet maintenance field and are clueless on having an intelligent conversation about carpet maintenance procedures and this is an opportunity to learn from different professionals on the aspects of quality carpet maintenance. Time to ask questions from the pros.

Let's talk about Janitors. How are janitors supposed to specialize in one particular thing when they have to mop and maintain floors, wax and polish them, vacuum carpets and follow maintenance procedures with the regular cleaning of commercial carpets and all the other cleaning maintenance including bathrooms and the sheer enormity of the of the scope of work that it is hard to focus on spotless day in and day out.

When you have regular house cleaners coming in to your home they have a process for dusting and cleaning your home, but that does not make them professional carpet cleaners and again they would need more knowledge and experience on how this process is performed.

Professional carpet cleaners spend a a day and a half on a course learning the theory of carpet cleaning and in that amount of time also learn about the different carpet cleaning systems including commercial type cleaning systems. Then they are handed a certificate of completion.

Steam cleaning is always receiving some competition from new carpet cleaning systems, but is still the best all-round superior quality cleaning that one can buy.

The best method for cleaning your carpet is an actual wet cleaning in reality but with a controlled amount of wet solution being applied to the carpet and then the extraction process follows filling the recovery tank with the dirty remains.

Flushing the dirt embedded in the fibers is the only way to release those soils and food stains with a gentle grooming during the application of the cleaning solution which helps break down the dirt with emulsifiers.

The steam cleaning equipment mostly used is the truck mount cleaning system as it affords more time for the cleaning technicians to do more jobs in a day and this type of cleaning seems to be the preferred method in the carpet cleaning world.

Most carpet cleaners have very little knowledge on how a carpet is cut and installed or repaired or constructed and they would benefit if they had a little more knowledge and experience in why carpets buckle or become loose after a cleaning etc. I know but they don't. experience tells a lot!

I am speaking about the masses and I understand that there are a few carpet cleaners that really do care however they are few and far between.

Which means what are you paying for and why would one cleaner be long gone while the other cleaner would be still on the job cleaning your carpets. It is obvious that there is no standard out there even with certification.

What type of training has the carpet cleaner had and how long have they been cleaning carpets. If they have an accreditation of some sort always helps.

Keeping the carpets clean will make them last for a very, very long time. - 16492
