Carpeting 101

By Qandishah Brown

Most people will consider carpeting for their homes or offices because of what it has to offer. It can make a room warm and cozy. It is also a great way to reduce noise compared to any other flooring. However it can be easy to land a carpet that wont last and is wrong if you dont know how to go about things properly. You will want to consider some other things beyond pricing and looks.

Something that you will want to consider will be what the carpet is made of. Natural fibers can one the things that carpets can be made of. Wool and silk are common fibers that can be used for natural carpets. These are the most expensive fibers that can be used. Some manufacturers also mix natural fibers with synthetic fibers to make it more affordable.

There are more types of fibers used for synthetic carpets; the most common of which is nylon which can be more affordable and stain resistant as compared to others. Olefin, acrylic and polyester are other synthetic materials used. Among these polyester can be more expensive and can have a softer, wool-like feel as compared to the others.

Having a carpet installed or installing a carpet can be fairly easy. It can be put on any surface except for one that already has an old one on it. Its important to remember that you have enough ventilation when getting a carpet installed. The fumes from the adhesive may be quite irritating and strong so be sure there is enough air.

Making sure that your carpeting will last long includes maintaining it and cleaning it regularly. This is one of the best ways that you can make sure your carpeting will last long. Vacuuming it at least once a week is recommended. Wet cleaning every few months can also be done to eliminate stains and odor. It can be a good investment to have it cleaned professionally every eighteen to twenty four months. - 16492
