Attend The Best Film School And Be A Star

By Roy Sencio

So many people think that the film industry is one of those jobs where no training is required. Increasingly they could not be more wrong. Actors of old got away without any training at acting school but check the resume of any actor now and decent film school credentials are almost certain to be present. Talented, young, would- be directors are finding it very hard to get their foot in the door without directing school and the same, of course, goes for producers and production school.

Of course some film colleges cover both of these things as well as being a film production school. The point is you rarely come across actors, directors or producers that have not attended film school and had some formal training. Formal training may have been less prevalent years ago but now it is a must.

If you doubt this you need to ask yourself the question; what is my plan for getting my foot in the door of the film world? If you happen to have some strong connections in the film industry then you are very lucky and may well actually be able to get a start without the formal training of filmmaking school. This would be a pretty rare situation though as most of us are not tripping over fabulous film industry connections in our day to day lives.

Secondly would you really feel comfortable working with a budget provided by someone else if you had no training to fall back on? You may find that without any real training at a school of film you begin to feel a little like a fish out of water. A lack of confidence is not the impression you want to give. The film industry is a very ego driven career. It is vital you appear confident and look like you know what you are doing. A background that includes a strong grounding in the elements of film making from a reputable film college will give you that know- how and confidence.

There is no doubt that talent is the biggest factor in whether or not you will make it in the film industry and no-one can teach you talent. But no matter how talented you are, you are unlikely to make it without the guidance of a decent film school. A good film school will employ instructors who have actual experience in the film production world and that experience will help to teach you all the important skills and techniques of the film industry.

One up and coming film school that is really gaining a reputation for excellence is IAFT. Their former students are starting to make big waves in the industry and are happy to give the credit to the professional training they had at the film school. They have leading Hollywood filmmakers on their faculty and this really shows with the quality of graduate they are producing. It would be well worth your while to go and check out their professional website and see what all the fuss is about http://www.filmschool.ph . You might learn something. - 16492
