Anyone can Homeschool using an Accredit Home School Program

By Jenny Rantoul

There are many, many reasons parents feel it is important to teach their children at home and get them out of a public school. If you feel that way, and you have done your homework, maybe you are hesitating because you're afraid you aren't qualified to be your children's teacher. In time, and with some study and practice, these fears will probably go away. In the meantime, some parents decide to use an accredited home school program.

You might feel that, even though you want to take your son or daughter out of a public school, you still want them to have the study courses they would have received there. An accredited homeschool program can do this. Your child would study material either sent to them or delivered on line. This might be largely a course of self study with parental supervision.

One of my daughter's best friends suffered a long illness last year. She had to stay at home and in bed for over 5 months. During this time she was in a home study program. But her studies were assigned by the school and supervised by her teachers. My daughter's accredited home school program is different because even though she has interaction with some teachers, I have the supervision, not a school.

There are accredited homeschool programs for children of all ages. There are preschool programs all the way through high school. The cost of these schools are generally not expensive, so they can be used by folks rich and poor. And while children are receiving a structured education, they are doing it in comfortable surroundings with their mothers and fathers.

Surely you can see the advantages of using an accredited home school program. Imagine the strong bonds you will form with your child as you teach them. You will have direct control over their learning because while you follow a curriculum, you are not strictly bound by it.

One of the things I have come to really love is the flexibility of scheduling. My daughter normally studies four to five hours a day. I try to keep that between 10 am and 3 pm, and by far most days that's just what we do. But when something comes up, we adjust! That four or five hours can be done anytime day or night, and not just Monday to Friday. Another thing: Using an accredited homeschool program can also provides you the benefit of saving a significant amount of money by removing transportation costs from your list of expenses.

The number of families that choose accredited home school programs is growing each year. Perhaps it's because they want to protect their children from such things as drugs and gang violence. Or maybe, like me, they don't want to see their child lost in a crowded classroom. Whatever the case, I think it's a wonderful alternative and my daughter is prospering. - 16492
