Gathering Airline Miles is Worth It!

By Mary Bush

I always wonder why people when looking for tickets always choose the cheapest ticket instead of sticking with one airline (or one alliance of airlines) and racking up miles. Most people I know say that it takes years and years to gather enough miles for a ticket. I say gather the miles not for tickets but for what you can do with those miles. In this article I will explain why it beneficial to gather as much miles as you can.

There are a few reason why miles are valuable. First you can exchange them for products, like electronics, but in these trades you don't get any fair deals. You can also trade them for other reward points, like Hilton reward points. If you do make these trades you are not using your miles full potential. You get the most out of your miles if you sell them. Miles are worth big money on ebay; you can easily sell 25,000 miles for over 300 dollars or you can get a free round trip ticket to any where in the continental US.

Here are the steps to earning miles incredibly fast fast

-Find an airline which flies to your area and preferably has a base or hub there and sign up for their membership program.

-When ever your going on vacation try to buy a ticket with the airline you are a member of. Airlines usually give you a mile for mile, meaning that for each mile you have flown, that is the amount of miles that will be placed into your account.

-Do some research, find out who are the airlines partners. For example Continental Airlines has more then 50 partners. From online retailers, cruises, hotel chains , car rentals, wireless companies, even electric companies.

In less then a few years you can easily reach 25,000 miles. - 16492
